If you’ve just left school, a hairdressing career could be for you! Hairdressing is an incredibly rewarding career with great earning potential (you might be surprised at what a successful stylist makes…) and incredible training, plus you get paid while you learn! During your hairdressing apprenticeship, you will spend one day every 2 weeks in college studying for your NVQ Level 2 while enjoying the best in house training with our award winning art team and Jamie himself at the salon. We have a brilliant, close knit team who will nurture and inspire you to be the best you.
You’ll work closely with our highly skilled stylists in the salons, earning while you learn. At the end of your training you will qualify with an NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing and will work as a Stylist in one of our salons. Because we want you to continue to progress in your career, we offer free ongoing training both in house and externally so you keep up to speed on the latest industry products, trends and techniques, and give you the opportunity to experience a number of different career paths.

“After 3 years of being in a band from The X Factor and experiencing the world that the famous live in our band split and I was back to square one! At 26 I didn’t want to go back to reality, I didn’t know what to do or where to go.
Then I remembered while I was on the show how much I enjoyed spending time in the hair room and was mesmerised by the team’s work.
So I gave Jamie a ring and told him the situation, luckily he gave me a shot as at 26 many salons won’t take you on as an apprentice!
In the two years I was an apprentice I got to see how the salon works, I got to watch every stylist and that for me was crucial.
How to do a consultation, how they interact and most importantly the techniques they use for colour and cut. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had to get my hands dirty, cleaning, making drinks and washing hair, but all of this is part of the job and without doing that I wouldn’t have progressed to where I am now.
I’ve had endless opportunities, from working on shoots to working on TV shows and assisting Jamie and the team watching how they work. Jamie and the team have mentored and encouraged me every step of the way and I won the HJ Rising Star award in 2016 at Salon International in my second year of being an apprentice – it wouldn’t have happened without the experiences I’ve gained.
Coming into hair at my age was the best decision I ever made and I wouldn’t change a thing (actually, tell a lie – I wish I started earlier!) My advice to anyone who wants to be an apprentice would be, enjoy it, take everything in because it’s the best time to learn everything you need to know!”
